    Description

    This is an example of trench art from WW1 The Great War. Trench Art brass shell (1913) made from a 3" Imperial German army shell.
    The approximate dimensions are 3" wide by 9" high
    This shell is hand engraved and is striking featuring a loraine cross
    This was engraved by a French soldier featuring a rose bush intertwined around the Lorain cross m
    The shell appears to have been fired durring WW1 from marks on the bottom and the primer missing. According to the lot numbers the shell was made in July 1913 in Germany
    There are no cracks or major dents in the shell. The engraving was done on the surface and the shell has not been hammered or pressed.
    It's a excellent example of a 3" Imperial German shell shell as well as Trench art from the first world war.
    " La Mapne" is engraved on the side next to the cross as shown
    You can see an example of this on the shelves of the famous TV show pawn Stars.
    The shell does have pitting, oxidation, dents, scratches, discoloration, wear ect as it is over 100 years old and was at some point picked up from a battlefield. The inside of the shell is dirty and has discoloration and oxidation.
