    Description

    Reproduced and Enlarged
    Photo of
    Oberleutnant Ritter von Schleich
    Perfect for Framing
Reproduced and enlarged photo of von Schleich (taken from the rare Sanke Postcard #596 from my collection)
von Schleich was a high scoring ace of the Imperial German Air Service with 35 victories and winner of the coveted Pour-le-Merite. He was the commander of Jastas 21 and 32 and Jagdgruppe 8.  He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Military Max-Joseph Order making him a Knight.  He fought against the Communists after the war and joined the Luftwaffe in 1933 attaining the the rank of General der Flieger in Norway.  He died in Nov. 1947.  This card shows a von Schleich in his his dress uniform proudly displaying his Pour-le-Merite.
I have very carefully removed all the writing and "cleaned-up" the image which now measures better than 5 times the size of the original postcard while still retaining a clean, crisp image.
Matted and put into a standard 9 X 13 picture frame it would be a handsome addition to any WWI collection.
