    Description

    Reproduced and Enlarged
    Photo of
    Leutnant Friedrich Roth
    Perfect for Framing
Leutnant Friedrich Roth who would go on to score 28 victories of which no fewer than 20 were observation balloons.  Roth was the highest scoring “balloon buster” of the Imperial German Air Service.  He would also receive the coveted Pour-le-Merite.     He committed suicide on New Year’s Eve 1919. He would also be posthumously awarded the The Knight’s Cross of the Military Max-Joseph Order making him a “Ritter” or Knight.
The image measures 5 1/2" X 9" and is close to 5 times the size of the original Sanke postcard while still retaining a crisp and clear image (much clearer than the displayed image) Matted and put into a standard 8 X 10 picture frame it would be a handsome addition to any WWI collection.
