    Description

WWI Iron Cross Crown W 1914 Grey KPM Berlin Germany Footed Cup & Saucer EXC
    100% of item proceeds
benefits a non-profit animal shelter: The Ferret Association of CT*
A stunning WWI patriotic cup and saucer by KPM (
    Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin
). It is all hand painted and depicts an Iron Cross in black accented in gold with the crown, a W in the center and 1914 surrounded by a gold laurel leaves. NOTE: the glare makes it appear there are more than just the crown, W and 1914 embellishments to the Iron Cross on the front. What appear to be gold embellishments to the left and right on the horizontal cross-bar of the cross is just a reflection of the laurel leaves on the saucer.
The cup and outside rim of the saucer is a pale grey. The cup has 3 gold feet. The rim is also decorated with laurel leaves. The handle is in a serpent form but bends back towards the hand rather than towards the lip as in other KPM models of this era.
The cup measures about 3 3/8 inches tall and is about 3 3/4 inches diameter at the lip. The matching saucer is about 5 3/4 inch diameter.
Both pieces are similarly marked with the Royal KPM Berlin scepter and iron cross marks dating this to the appropriate period.
Am also listing five other WWI German cups and saucers from this estate collection (if still available) and am happy to combine shipping.
