    Estate sale find, original vintage WWI era German army artillery unit stein.  Written around the mouth is "2. Battr. Feld. Art. Rgt. Gen. Feldmarschall Graf Waldersee (Schlesw.) Nr. 9 Itzehoe. 1911-1913" presented to "Resevist Jahn" who is named on the roster near te handle.
    Loosely translated: 2nd Battery, Field Artillery, General Fieldmarshall Graf Waldersee Regiment, Schleswig, Number 9, Itzehoe (Town in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein), 1911-1913.
    The piece displays nicely with an artillery piece finial with two soldiers with Pickelhaube helmets and imperial eagle thumb press with conical fuse shaped lid.  Around the base of the pewter lid are vignettes of artillerymen in action.
    The porcelain stein has a vignette of Kaiser Wilhelm and the Imperial Eagle along with several depictions of artillery pieces in action.  There is a unit roster on either side of the handle with a nice lithopane.  The piece has transfer decoration and hand painted highlights.
    The stein is approximately 4.5" across the base, 6" wide including handle, and 12.5" tall (including finial), approximate shipping weight 5.5 pounds.
