Description

This is a 100% hand painted byzantine icon in a traditional byzantine way, using powder colors of stones and a mixture of egg yolk and vinegar (egg tempera).
The icon is painted on ply wood covered with chalk primer (gesso), specially treated for timeless duration.
Following the byzantine art traditions, every icon is layered with a linen cloth, glued and hand sanded to a smooth finish.
The background is covered with 22,5Karat gold leaf.
With a varnish layer ensuring waterproofing.
Each and every icon that I sell is absolutely unique.
The icon is signed and dated on the back side.
This icon is made to order and needs 30 days to be completed.
