FINE 19TH CENTURY ENGRAVED BONE TRIPTYCH OF THE INMACULATED VIRGIN
The triptych is engraved on bone, which is mounted on a wooden frame in the shape of a chapel. The triptych opens outwards to show three pictorial panels - a large central panel and two narrower side panels, all of which are bordered by an engraved foliated scrolling pattern. The central panel is the largest and represents the Holy Family, at the top an angel with a poster and at the bottom a beautiful landscape. The left flanking panel shows a Saint standing holding a book, on top blazon with keys The right flanking panel shows a saint standing holding a book, on top blazon with cross. The lower sides are represented by beautiful cherubim.
