    Description

Title: Original 19th Century Watercolor of
    Austro-Hungarian
Kaiser Franz Joseph I with his regiment parading
    Description:
Incredible late 19th (1866) century regiment watercolor painting depicting Austro-Hungarian Kaiser Franz Joseph I marching with Standard Bearer holding Austro-Hungarian Standard. Artist dated on the bottom of 1866, it is believed this is an a early depiction of the Kaiser given the timeframe and similarities of him in his youth. This fantastic piece is housed in its original frame with original sealed backing with embossed seal on the lower right hand corner. Fantastic artistic hand by an experience artist. I believe it is signed although unfortunately given the way it is housed in the frame I am unable to see the artist signature. Piece retains much of its rich color and is beautifully detailed throughout. Sash on one soldier reads "Baden No 7?" in town of Baden Austria.
Condition: Good, creases, back has some wear and tearing to the sealed back.
    Approx Measurements:
    Frame: 15 1/2" by 20"
    Sight: 13 1/2" by 18"
    About Me:
Like most, I picked up the collecting bug many years ago when I was younger rummaging through the nooks and crannies of my grandparent's summer house in upstate New York. Today, you can still see me doing the same thing, only I don't fit through much of those spots anymore but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the thrill of the hunt. I
am an avid enthusiast for all things unusual, one-of-a-kind, and historical, with a specific focus on militaria and other remarkable, eccentric, antique oddities.
